PressReader's Accessibility Mode provides enhanced reading features including keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility. It is currently only available on desktop and not in the PressReader app.
Follow these steps to use Accessibility Mode:
Enable Accessibility Mode
- Log into your account at www.pressreader.com.
- Select the three dots in the top right corner of the page to open “Settings.”
- Toggle on “Accessibility Mode” to activate the enhanced reading experience.
How to use keyboard navigation in PressReader
- Once you’ve enabled “Accessibility Mode,” use the “Tab” key to move forward through interactive elements on the page.
- Use “Shift + Tab” to move backward through interactive elements.
- Use the “Enter” or “Space” keys to activate buttons and links.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate within articles and content areas.
- Press “Escape” to close modal windows or return to previous sections.
How to use PressReader with your screen reader
- Ensure your screen reader software (such as JAWS, NVDA or VoiceOver) is running.
- Navigate to www.pressreader.com and enable “Accessibility Mode” (see above).
- Use your screen reader's standard navigation commands to browse content.
- Use heading navigation (H key on most screen readers) to jump between article sections.
- Use landmark navigation to quickly access main content areas, navigation menus and page sections.
